Kate Middleton Once Had To Apologize 'For Not Wearing Pretty Dress'
Kate Middleton once left a royal fan “underwhelmed” during an engagement. This came after she chose not to wear a gown for the outing.
The International News recalled the incident, which took place in Swansea. As noted, the report first emerged on The Mirror, noting that the Duchess of Cambridge even apologized “for not wearing a pretty dress.”
As explained, a little girl from her audience felt disappointed upon seeing the royal princess. It was because she thought the future Queen Consort would look like a “Disney princess,” adding that she assumed she would appear like “Cinderella.”
The young girl’s mother was reportedly the one who shared the story with the media. She, also, revealed that, after the “cute exchange,” her daughter was “so taken with her,” and even gave Kate Middleton a “huge hug.”
The Duchess of Cambridge may have said sorry for not appearing like a “Disney princess” before the young girl. But, it did not have anything to do with her overall fashion style.
Over the years, the future Queen Consort has been praised for her sartorial pieces. She has even been described as a fashion icon of today.
The Things asserted that “it seems [she] can do no wrong” in terms of her fashion decisions. She appears to always “rock just about anything” she wears.
Some may agree with the outlet’s assertion but, not everyone always gives their approval to Kate Middleton when it comes to her fashion choices. A 2018 report from the Daily Beast revealed that many individuals criticized her, especially the dresses she wore during her and Prince William’s royal tour of Sweden and Norway.
The fashion press slammed the two outfits the Duchess of Cambridge donned at the time. It was the infamous blue velvet gown with an oversized oriental floral motif and the long yellow silk satin dress with a different floral pattern.
The two pieces were from Erdem, with the latter coming from the brand’s 2017 collection. Experts and commentators urged the royal to ditch the fashion label after seeing her wear the ensembles.
Later in 2018, Kate Middleton received another wave of criticisms due to her fashion choice. Fox News said that netizens, especially royal fans, were “not happy” with the light blue evening gown she wore from Alexander McQueen.
Social media users claimed that the piece resembled either an “‘80s prom gown or a bridesmaid dress.” One even reportedly stated that the outfit was "maybe the worst Kate ever wore."
