Queen Elizabeth II 'Unlikely' To Meet Prince Harry's Daughter Following Sussexes' Reported Snub
The chances have now become “slim” for Queen Elizabeth II to meet her granddaughter from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This comes as the Duke of Sussex would miss the memorial service for Prince Philip in the United Kingdom this March 29.
Page Six said that the royal-born Prince confirmed his absence from the ceremony on Friday.
In an official statement, he said that he would not return to his home country later this month. He, however, hopes to visit Queen Elizabeth II “as soon as possible.”
Biographer Angela Levin asserted that the youngest Wales prince appears to have “snubbed the Duke of Edinburgh but really he is snubbing the Queen.” She, also, suggested that the royal will “probably use this same excuse to try to get out of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.”
The report first emerged from The Sun on the day Prince Harry released the statement. Several royal experts shared their thoughts on the matter, with some pointing out the unlikelihood of Queen Elizabeth II meeting her granddaughter from the Sussexes anytime soon.
Speaking to the publication, Richard Fitzwilliams said that “it is increasingly unlikely,” adding that it would not happen “in the foreseeable future.” He, also, claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not seem like they are flying back to the United Kingdom “to come over.”
The expert, then, stated that it was something “expected because of the issue with security.” He, later on, noted that the overall scenario is “a great pity” and “regrettable [that] the rift will remain unhealed.”
The latest developments in the lives of the British Royals come amid the row between Prince Harry and the Home Office. Express UK recalled that he is seeking a judicial review for the office’s decision not to allow him to pay for police protection on his own.
The Duke of Sussex’s legal camp previously insisted that the royal-born Prince and his family are “unable” to return to the United Kingdom due to safety concerns. As argued during the first hearing last month, he was “desperate to return to visit family and friends.”
Meanwhile, no official comment has yet to emerge from Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of the British Royal Family. But, there are ongoing speculations that she only learned about her grandson’s plan to skip the service 15 minutes before Prince Harry’s confirmation on Friday.
Senior Palace aides were said to have made the allegations. But, no clear evidence has come to light to prove the claims.
