Prince William, Kate Middleton Are Allegedly Planning To Relocate To Cumberland Lodge To Be Closer To Queen Elizabeth
Prince William and Kate Middleton are allegedly planning to leave Kensington Palace.
In its March 14 issue, Woman’s Day claimed that Prince William and Middleton want to take over Cumberland Lodge, which is just a short drive away from Windsor Castle.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge want to live closer to Queen Elizabeth especially now that she’s getting older and has also become sickly.
“It’s ideal for the Cambridges, who want to position themselves in a secure country home where the kids can have a normal upbringing out of the spotlight and that’s also close enough to London for their own work. It’s been a plan of theirs for a while, so they can all be settled by the time Prince George is ready to attend Eton College, which is in the same area,” the source said.
The insider claimed that Prince William and Middleton are speeding up their plans to relocate because of the queen’s failing health. However, the Cambridges wouldn’t just move anywhere. They want to make sure that the new home that they would choose would be perfect for their family.
According to the source, the queen is also thrilled with the idea of living close to the Cambridges. After all, Prince William and Middleton’s three children give her so much joy.
“The queen needs some cheering up, and William and Kate know her great-grandkids bring her so much joy. Having them close by will give her a new lease on life. The queen doesn’t do a lot of traveling these days, but she’s happy to drive around the Windsor area. Being able to pop in on Wills and the kids and vice versa will make her very happy. She can’t wait for her new neighbors to move in,” the source said.
Earlier this year, there were rumors that Prince William and Middleton inquired at Windsor’s Fort Belvedere. However, the property is still occupied as of late.
So, it’s still unclear whether Prince William and Middleton are really planning to relocate soon. After all, nothing has been finalized yet.
Even if Kensington Palace is not very close to Windsor Castle, there’s no issue when it comes to travel time. Prince William and Middleton can still get to the queen as quickly as possible because they have drivers that bring them around.
