Prince Charles Reportedly Made 'Sweet' Gesture To Support Princess Diana's First Solo Trip
It took years before Princess Diana had her first solo royal trip outside the United Kingdom. But, when she had it in 1984, Prince Charles reportedly sent her a surprising sweet “gesture of support.”
Cheat Sheet noted that the report first emerged on Express UK. As stated, royal expert Ingrid Seward made the claims to the publication.
She said that the official engagement was in Norway earlier in 1984. It was the time when they had just discovered they were pregnant with Prince Harry.
Seward shared that upon arrival in the country, the Princess of Wales found a note inside her suitcase. It was reportedly from the Prince of Wales saying, “we were so proud of you.”
The royal expert continued that Prince Charles, also, signed the letter. He was said to have written, “Willie wombat and I,” at the end of the message.
As explained, “Willie wombat” was Prince William’s nickname when he was a child. It was given to him by his father and Princess Diana.
While it is a story that many royal fans and followers would love, no one can confirm whether it, indeed, happened. The publication did not share any further information about the narrative.
There is a possibility, nevertheless, that Prince Charles did the gesture to support Princess Diana at the time. This comes as many royal biographers and experts believe that the pair’s marriage was not always a disaster.
Geo News reported that Penny Junor is one of the royal experts who have this belief. She even asserted that there were “definitely good times” in the early days of the Wales couple’s marriage.
The Prince and Princess of Wales allegedly had a “blissful married life” following the birth of Prince William. Some individuals were claimed to have seen the Heir Apparent chasing his then-wife up the stairs, while playfully looking for their first-born son.
The outlet, later on, said, though, that the Queen’s son’s behavior “drastically changed” after the birth of Prince Harry. Royal biographer Andrew Morton reportedly shared a similar thought, adding that it was what Princess Diana had told him.
Amid all the existing opinions and speculations about the royal couple’s relationship, no confirmations have since come to light. But, there are ongoing talks about Prince Harry exposing the details of his parents’ marriage, according to a separate report from Express UK.
Royal commentators seemingly believe that the Duke of Sussex will include the subject in his upcoming memoir, alongside the “breakdown” of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s relationship.
