Prince Charles already has so many things on his plate, and he now has to deal with another issue involving his alleged claims regarding his grandson Archie’s skin color.
In its Dec. 13 issue, Woman’s Day claimed that Prince Charles became upset when his name was linked to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s previous revelations during their interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.
At the time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told Winfrey that one member of the royal family was concerned about what Archie’s skin color would be like because Markle is African-American.
Prince Charles reportedly made the stark comment while having breakfast with Camilla Parker Bowles. And some palace aides heard his comment.
According to royal author Christopher Andersen, Prince Charles didn’t mean any harm with his comments. But palace aides took his words out of context and made it look as though he was being racist.
Still, even if Prince Charles didn’t have bad intentions with what he said, a source for the tabloid claimed that he’s thinking about apologizing to Prince Harry. The future king wants to phone his son so that they could have a man-to-man talk, but he doesn’t know how to approach him.
After all, Prince Charles knows that Prince Harry is still upset with him and so is his wife, Markle.
“He is furious, of course, and absolutely denies that any such conversation with Camilla over breakfast took place. But Charles’ first thoughts were immediately on his youngest son and grandson, Archie, and how this horrible story might be affecting them. It’s the last thing Charles wanted and he wants a chance to apologize to Harry that it’s all come to this,” the source said.
The insider also claimed that Prince Harry isn’t delighted to know that Prince Charles has plans to call him. But when he does, the Duke of Sussex will be decent enough to pick up his dad’s call.
As of late, Prince Charles has not confirmed or denied the revelations in Andersen’s book regarding his comments. And Prince Harry and Markle never name-dropped the heir to the throne.
In fact, when they first spoke with Winfrey, royal fans immediately assumed that they were referring to Princess Anne as the racist royal that had qualms about Archie’s skin color.
However, it was recently proven that this wasn’t the case.
