Life goes on even during the global coronavirus pandemic, and that includes falling in and out of love. For one-half of the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate, it has meant the end of her marriage with Olivier Sarkozy.
As reported by TMZ, the 33-year-old fashion designer had filed an emergency divorce filing from her husband, Pierre Olivier Sarkozy. Sarkozy is a French banker who is also the half-brother of Nicholas Sarkozy, former president of France.
The emergency divorce filing is supposed to protect Olsen’s property, as Sarkozy is asking Olsen to move out of their New York apartment by May 18. Olsen has responded that she cannot possibly meet the deadline due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown that has come along with it.
According to Page Six, the couple‘s marriage has been on the rocks for some time now, with Olsen’s divorce filing stating that the marriage had broken down irretrievably for at least six months now.
The emergency divorce filing also indicates that the reason Olsen is asking for it is to retrieve her property as well as their marital property before Sarkozy either dissipates or destroys them. Another thing that the divorce filing is requesting is that the couple’s pre-nuptial agreement be enforced and that Sarkozy continues to pay for Olsen’s health and dental insurance.
Unfortunately for Olsen, her emergency divorce filing will not be moving forward after Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Katz decided on it.
Olsen and Sarkozy are just the latest celebrity couple to encounter a rough patch in their relationship during the coronavirus crisis. For instance, “Loose Women” co-host Stacey Solomon had to assure fans that she and her partner Joe Swash were still together after her most recent Instagram posts did not feature him.
Florence Pugh also had to defend her boyfriend Zach Braff after a photo she uploaded of the actor on her Instagram page resulted in internet commenters questioning the huge age difference between the two. Pugh had to upload a video on her Instagram page to defend her boyfriend and insist that she is old enough to make her own decisions when it comes to her relationships.
Whether Olsen will be able to find a new apartment by May 18 is up in the air as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States and around the world is not slowing down. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s update for May 14, there are now 1,384,930 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States. Deaths caused by COVID-19 are now at 83,947 people.
