Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 will see the return of Kate Walsh in multiple episodes.

The actress played the role of Addison Montgomery in the earlier seasons of Grey’s Anatomy.

As of late, it is still unclear what Addison’s storylines would be in the hit ABC series. But National Enquirer is speculating on the possibility that the actress will be returning to challenge Ellen Pompeo.

Months ago, the lead star of Grey’s Anatomy admitted that she no longer feels as excited as she once was to return to acting. In fact, there have also been speculations that she could leave the franchise for good.

And to prevent this from happening, series creator Shonda Rhimes is allegedly trying to challenge the actress and her character, Meredith Grey.

“Kate was as popular as Ellen in the early years – so much so that producers believe bringing her back will give the show the breath of fresh air it needs after nearly 20 seasons. Kate’s return also provides a perfect escape hatch for Ellen,” the source said.

And since Addison had the same seniority and gravitas as Meredith, the former could easily be the focus of Grey’s Anatomy Season 18.

“The added bonus is that fans are just as fond of her character as Ellen’s. Ellen’s burned out now, but you never know how she’ll feel after a few months of the show,” the source said.

However, it is important to note that the tabloid’s claims are nothing more than speculations. As of late, Addison’s storylines are still being kept under wraps.

It’s also not true that Pompeo will be quitting Grey’s Anatomy very soon. After all, her exit would mean the end of the medical drama because she’s the lead star.

It is also important to remember that Walsh will just be making guest appearances in multiple episodes of Grey’s Anatomy Season 18. She isn’t cast as a series regular.

Meanwhile, other storylines to watch out for in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 include Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Link’s (Chris Carmack) love story, as well as Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy’s (Kim Raver) relationship.

In Season 17, Amelia refused Link’s proposal to tie the knot. Even though they have already have a baby together, it’s obvious that Amelia has some issues with commitment.

As for Owen and Teddy, they are back together again. But it’s only a matter of time before they split.
