Matthew McConaughey has been doing his bit to help people amid the coronavirus quarantine starting from donating face masks to playing online bingo with senior living residents to cheer them up. He is now out with a new PSA urging all Americans to stay at home.
The Academy Award-winning star has lent his voice to a new public service announcement, which is called “It’s About Us.” He is not only the co-creator of this PSA but has also co-produced it with Roy Spence.
In this new PSA, the actor requests the Americans to stay away from the politics of “us versus them” and stay united during this crisis period. McConaughey shared he felt that his nation, family, and himself required “a motivational reminder that America is much stronger together rather than divided by partisan politics."
The actor opines that the fight with the deadly virus “is not a political one, it’s a human one.” “The Wolf of Wall Street” star added that “the virus doesn’t differentiate between political parties, between Us and Them.”
He said rather it is a threat to all people around the globe. McConaughey mentioned that it is a period of “chaos and uncertainty” allover and people should “be driven by a purpose” that unites them, ABC News reports.
The public service announcement reads over a picture of masked front-line workers and health care workers: “This is not about politics.” The caption further reads: "It's about us."
Meanwhile, Matthew McConaughey is getting plenty of time to spend with his mom Kay and family as they isolate in Texas. The family is adhering to the social distancing norms amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
