Meghan Markle allegedly banned Prince William and Kate Middleton from attending Lili’s baptism.
In its July 26 issue, New Idea claimed that Markle put a plan in place to borrow Queen Elizabeth’s precious christening gown when Prince Harry met up with his grandmother in the United Kingdom.
Unfortunately, Her Majesty refused to lend the gown to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex because they are no longer considered as senior working royals.
And because of this, Prince Harry and Markle decided to organize a private christening for their daughter instead of a public one. This way, no members of the royal family will be invited to the important gathering.
“Meghan wants the ceremony to be super small and will only include a handful of celebrity guests, along with her mom, Doria. The royal family won’t be invited. She won’t even let them watch on a Zoom call, probably out of pure spite that they wouldn’t let her have the gown,” the source said.
The insider added that Middleton was devastated to hear Markle and Prince Harry’s decision because she’s been doing everything that she can to help heal the brothers’ rift.
“Kate’s been trying so hard to mend the fences between William and Harry, if only for Archie, Lili, and the Cambridge kids’ sakes. Now, she’s been blacklisted from one of the most formative family events in a child’s life. She’s devastated,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt for a number of reasons.
First, Markle and Prince Harry have not shared details regarding Lili’s baptism. So, no one knows for sure when and where it will be held.
Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in the United States, it is highly likely that the baptism will take place there.
This means that the royals won’t be in attendance because they are in the United Kingdom.
Second, there is no proof that Markle asked Prince Harry to borrow the queen’s christening gown during his trip to the U.K. earlier this year.
So, the tabloid just created their storyline that Markle became upset with the queen and decided to make her daughter’s christening private.
This is just another way for the tabloid to take a dig at the Sussexes.
Meanwhile, new reports are claiming that Lili might be christened at Windsor Castle because this is what Prince Harry wants.
