The late Princess Diana’s statue was unveiled last Thursday, July 1, in Kensington Palace’s Sunken Gardens. The event would have been the 60th birthday of The Princess of Wales. Her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, co-hosted the occasion.
Now, some have been claiming that Prince Harry appeared to be nervous during the event. Ahead of the occasion, the Duke of Sussex flew from the United States to the United Kingdom to attend the unveiling of his late mother’s statue.
Reportedly, Prince Harry looks nervous because he’s aware that the spotlight was put on him and his brother, Prince William. Over the past years, there have been rumors about the alleged rift between the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of Cambridge.
This was further ignited when the former, and his wife, Meghan Markle, did a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey earlier this 2021. The brothers briefly reunited at the funeral of their late grandfather, Prince Philip, back in April. However, they didn’t have much interaction at the time.
Because of this, many have been anticipating their reunion at the unveiling as they both worked on the project.
Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers was featured in Pod Save the Queen hosted by Ann Gripper. The two talked about the Duke of Sussex’s actions during the celebration and discussed Prince Harry’s trauma, which he opened up in his Apple TV+ docu-series The Me You Can’t See.
Gripper said that Prince Harry seemed to be tricky during the event, given that he knew he was put into the spotlight. The Duke of Sussex has talked about the trauma he had through the sound of cameras, which is why the host thinks he is “being a bit of a nervous bundle of energy.”
She also commented on the photo of the Royal brothers standing next on either side of the statue as they about to unveil it. Gripper said that while the picture represents the division of the two, she believes it embodies “moments of warmth” between Prince William and Prince Harry.
Meanwhile, Myers agreed that Prince Harry looks nervous on the occasion, pointing out Gripper’s assessment of a “nervous bundle of energy.” He also commented about Prince William looking “pensive, just deep in thought.”
“I mean, it’s a difficult situation, isn’t it, seeing his brother, all the backstory going on, the Spencer family there who were obviously really happy to see both of them,” the royal commentator said.
