JTBC’s Cruel Story of Office Romance has finally revealed the core cast members. The upcoming South Korean drama tells the story of the work and love lives of those who are working at Korea’s national weather forecast service: Korea Meteorological Administration.

On Monday, June 21, it has been confirmed that Song Kang, Park Min Young, Yoon Park, and Girl’s Day Yura will star on Cruel Story of Office Romance. The JTBC drama is directed by Cha Young Hoon, whose previous works include When the Camellia Blooms.

Song Kang is set to play the role of Lee See Woo. The character is described as a free-spirited person who always thinks outside the box. Many were impressed with his IQ of 150 and he could achieve whatever he sets on his mind. However, he is clumsy and all he cares about is the weather.

Park Min Young portrays the intelligent and highly organized Jin Ha Kyung. She is someone who wants everything to be done by the book. She also keeps her personal and professional life separate, and has become an “outsider by choice.”

Yoon Park will be Han Ki Joon, “a handsome and quick-witted character with a silver tongue.” He could persuade anyone, which helped him get scouted by the spokesperson's office. He struggled during the early days of his career and has dealt with failure.

Lastly, Yura stars as the daily weather reporter Chae Yoo Jin. She was assigned to the weather and lifestyle team after doing on-site reports. At first, she was disappointed with her new post, but she grew fond of her assignment as the story goes on.

At the moment, Cruel Story of Office Romance hasn’t started production. Filming is expected to begin this coming summer and will be gearing to an early 2022 premiere schedule. Some cast members were busy with their current projects, particularly Song Kang, who stars in another JTBC drama, Nevertheless.

The webtoon-based series was released on Jun 19. The story focuses on a man named Park Jae Uhn (Song Kang), who’s not interested in dating but likes to flirt, and a woman named Yoo Na Bi (Han So Hee), who doesn’t believe in love but wants to experience dating.

Yoo Na Bi doesn’t want to fall in love again after being in a series of failed relationships. However, she became drawn to the charming Park Jae Uhn and ignored the red flags. Despite the warnings she received, she pursues a complicated relationship with him.

Nevertheless airs every Saturday on JTBC at 11 PM KST. The series is also available to stream on Netflix.
