Netflix unveiled a new teaser trailer of the upcoming The Witcher season 2. The latest clip featured a lot of action-packed scenes in the fantasy-adventure drama and it focuses on the series’ protagonist, Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill). Here’s what viewers and fans can expect with the return of the monster slayer.
The official Twitter account of the series dropped a 12-second teaser of The Witcher season 2. The post is captioned: “What does destiny have in store for Geralt of Rivia in Season 2? Here's a clue.” Some Eagle-eyed fans have spotted the dangers coming for the character in the next chapter.
The first installment saw Geralt of Rivia fighting a lot of creepy creatures, and this time around, he’s going to encounter more terrifying monsters. The latest outing brings more twists and turns, and it is said to be having a different story compared to what was shown in season 1.
Official plot details of The Witcher season 2 haven’t been disclosed. But, the major tease comes from showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who assured viewers that a lot of characters will have more interactions with one another.
Meanwhile, the series could also feature a major death of a character – or characters. This speculation started when fans noticed a medallion of a fallen Witcher hanging in the tree in the 12-second teaser. Some suggest this is an indication that one of them may die in the process.
It’s yet to be seen who it could be. However, it’s worth noting that new characters are coming onboard, which could mean that their presence could shake up the story. The series does not introduce new faces in the narrative for nothing.
In a related report, this is not the first teaser trailer released for The Witcher season 2. During Netflix’s Geeked Week, a clip featuring Ciri (Freya Allan) has been unveiled. Based on how season 1 ended and the latest preview photos on the next outing, Geralt of Rivia will train Ciri at Kaer Morhen.
Also, it was announced that Netflix and CD PROJEKT RED will be co-hosting the WitcherCon event on July 9. The special global virtual celebration is available to stream on the streaming platform and the videogame developer’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
The Witcher season 2 is slated to premiere in late 2021 on Netflix. The show has met several delays while filming the latest installment, mostly because of Cavill’s on-set injury and the COVID-19 pandemic. The series has been off-air for more than a year, with the first season airing in December 2019.
