Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have been together for several years already but the couple remains private when it comes to their relationship. However, one tabloid published a story about the coupled back in 2020. The two allegedly eloped and secretly tied the knot amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
A year ago, Star claimed that Swift and Alwyn were ready to get married and they didn’t want to wait any longer. At the time, the outlet cited the COVID-19 pandemic as one of the major reasons why the couple was having a hard time tying the knot – as huge gatherings like weddings were difficult to pull off.
“Neither of them wants to wait to have a formal ceremony,” the source said, “Taylor and Joe are in this together, and this is what they want.”
The insider further asserted that both Swift and Alwyn were very excited and they’ve even prepared “lowkey vows.” To make the story looks more reliable, the outlet provided a photo of the couple walking hand-in-hand.
However, a year had already passed but there is no clear indication that Swift and Alwyn rushed their way to the altar. The tabloid hasn’t published more stories about the two to prove that they, indeed, got married in the times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s unclear when Swift and Alwyn first met, but some believed it was during the Met Gala in 2016. There are also speculations that the song “Dress” on her 2017 album Reputation was a reference to their first meeting, as the lyrics include: “Flashback to when you met me, your buzzed cut and my hair bleached.”
The couple kept their relationship away from the public eye, but rumors have been continuously following them. Several tabloids have published a lot of stories about the two planning to get married, but none of these were proved to be true.
For instance, in early 2021, In Touch claimed that Swift and Alwyn were in a rush to get married after the singer’s mother was diagnosed with cancer. National Enquirer, on the other hand, asserted that the couple is rushing down the aisle.
Aside from claiming that Swift is ready to get married, Woman’s Day alleged the singer is ready to have a baby, as well. Just recently, Heat released a story similar to Star’s report a year ago, in which the couple eloped over Zoom because of the COVD-19 pandemic.
These claims have already been busted, proving that their wedding is nothing but just a pure rumor. And even before Swift entered a relationship with Alwyn, a lot of tabloids have been releasing stories about her -- particularly when it comes to her romantic life.
