Meghan Markle has allegedly refused to give up her title as the Duchess of Sussex even though she and Prince Harry have already decided to quit The Firm.
In its June 5 issue, Heat UK claimed that Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William are in talks about what they should with Markle and Prince Harry’s royal titles.
After all, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been criticizing the royal family during their recent interviews and guest appearances.
However, the source claimed that Markle doesn’t want the queen to strip her of her royal title even though she’s no longer a senior working royal. In fact, she’s so attached to her title that she used it as her name when she published her book, The Bench.
According to the source, Markle tried to convince Prince Harry to lessen his attacks against the royal family because she thinks this is one of the ways she could keep her title.
“She’s told Harry that they need to tone down the attacks on the royal family. She’s afraid they’ll take away their titles, which would be a PR disaster. Right now, she’s inundated with offers, and that’s in part due to being a duchess,” the source said.
However, there are still no talks about the queen possibly getting rid of Prince Harry and Markle’s royal titles. But several royal experts claimed that the monarch should consider doing this because Prince Harry and Markle continue to destroy the royal family’s reputation.
Just recently, over 40,000 people have also signed a petition to have Prince Harry and Markle’s royal titles temporarily suspended.
The petition was created by Lady Colin Campbell, one of the couple’s critics.
Campbell said that suspending the couple’s titles temporarily would free them both of their constitutional conflicts.
Doing so will also grant the Duke and Duchess of Sussex the opportunity to live their lives as private citizens the same they want.
This isn’t the first time that Campbell has spoken against Prince Harry and Markle
Following the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, she claimed that Markle was referring to Princess Anne when she said that someone from the royal family had concerns about Archie’s skin color.
However, Prince Harry, Markle, and Princess Anne never confirmed Campbell’s statement. Still, she insisted that this was the case.
