Angelina Jolie is allegedly struggling financially because of Brad Pitt.
Since the exes are still battling over the custody of their children, Jolie and Pitt both have to spend thousands on their respective lawyers.
In its May 10 issue, Life & Style claimed that the expenses are taking a toll on Jolie, who has not had much work since her divorce from Pitt in 2016.
A source for the tabloid also claimed that Jolie isn’t broke because she’s worth millions. But the fact that she can’t accept acting and directing jobs means that she’s also had to lose a ton of financial opportunities.
“While Angelina would rather work behind the scenes, it’s too time-consuming. As an actress, she can make ends meet and be there for her kids,” the source said.
By the looks of it, the tabloid took Jolie’s words out of context. After all, she recently revealed that she had to look after her children after her divorce from Pitt. This means that she made the decision to not work and direct as much.
However, nowhere in the interview did Jolie blame Pitt for it. Rather, the actress simply said that it was her choice to stop working temporarily because she wanted to focus on her children.
And now that her children have grown up, Jolie can finally accept more acting and directing gigs. In fact, she will star in a movie called Those Who Wish Me Dead.
Meanwhile, Jolie has also opened up about her role in the project. She told Entertainment Tonight that she’s drawn to the human side of the movie, as well as her character, Hannah Faber.
Hannah suffers from PTSD after experiencing an on-the-job tragedy that she still blames herself for.
Jolie’s character is very broken, and the actress said that she’s drawn to people who are in such a state because it’s also something that she’s been through.
The actress also said that playing the role of a broken person is very healing because they are able to eventually find redemption.
In the movie, Hannah comes across a 12-year-old boy who witnessed a murder. The lead character makes it a point to protect the youngster even if it means putting herself in danger.
Those Who Wish Me Dead is Jolie’s first onscreen action movie in the last 10 years. So, for the role, the actress made sure to undergo training so that she could do most of the stunts.
