Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank have, reportedly, chosen a second name for their newborn son and it's a tribute to a great-grandfather four times over in the Brooksbank family.
According to reports, Eugenie and Jack will likely give their son the name "Stamp," for Stamp Brooksbank. He was Jack's 18th-century ancestor who was once the Governor of the Bank of England. Incidentally, Jack was also named for this grandfather as he was christened Jack Christopher Stamp Brooksbank.
The couple, however, has yet to reveal their son's complete name following the baby's birth on Feb. 9. Sources said that the Brooksbanks are biding their time because they want to enjoy this private moment with their royal family's new addition.
Royal commentator Omid Scobie said in his Heirpod podcast show that it's not unusual for the public to wait to learn the royal baby's name. He recalled that everyone also had to wait "for days" after the birth of Prince George, the first-born son of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Scobie said that George's name revelation took time because of his significant role as the future king. Queen Elizabeth had to know what his parents chose first before it could be publicly revealed.
But Eugenie and Jack's baby is not going to have a special royal role since he is currently the 11th in line to the British throne. Scobie said that the delay in the announcement might likely be because Eugenie and Jack simply want to enjoy the moments before the traditional announcements are underway and the onslaught of press inquiries would come.
The birth of Eugenie's first child, however, was once again "overshadowed" by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to Twitter royal fans. Not five days after the York princess confirmed that she gave birth, her cousins announced on Valentine's Day that they were expecting their second baby.
Royal fans could not forget that Harry and Meghan revealed they were in the family way during Eugenie's wedding in 2018. Scobie wrote in the biography, Finding Freedom, that this didn't sit well with the York royal, who felt that Harry and Meghan should have waited to squeal their news until after the Brooksbank wedding.
However, disagreements aside, Harry and Eugenie are the closest cousins in the royal family. As a testament to this closeness, Harry and Meghan agreed to let Eugenie and Jack stay at Frogmore Cottage, the Sussex pair's home in the United Kingdom. It is understood that Eugenie will raise her son in this country home since Harry, Meghan and their kids will be based in the U.S. (Business Times)
