Meghan Markle is being urged to drop the lawsuit that she filed against one publication that published her handwritten letters to Thomas Markle Sr.
While speaking with The Sunday Times, one palace aide said Markle should drop the charges altogether to protect the royal family.
After all, if the case heads to trial, the whole situation could, reportedly, be traumatic for The Firm.
“It will expose palace operations. Members of staff would be dragged into it and on the witness stands. It would be deeply uncomfortable for the institution,” the source said.
The palace aide also said that Markle should consider protecting the royal family even if she’s no longer considered a senior working royal.
Months ago, the Duchess of Sussex filed a lawsuit against Mail on Sunday for publishing the handwritten letters she gave to her estranged dad.
Markle argued that the letters weren’t supposed to be released to the public.
However, Mail on Sunday fired back by saying that parts of Markle’s letter were also published in Finding Freedom.
This shows that the letter isn’t private after all.
Shortly after the filing, Markle’s lawyers are arguing for a summary judgment. If the judge will grant this request, there won’t be a need for witnesses to testify in against or in favor of Prince Harry’s wife.
But if the judge doesn’t grant Markle’s lawyer’s request, there is a possibility that the case could go into trial. When this happens, the Suits alum can come face to face with her dad.
Last year, Judge Justice Warby granted Markle’s request to postpone the hearing from January 2021 to October 2021.
The judge said that the request was granted due to some confidential reasons.
Even though the reasons were never directly revealed, royal fans are convinced that it has something to do with Markle’s miscarriage.
After all, the former actress detailed the tragic incident in her op-ed piece for the New York Times shortly after her request was granted.
Markle has been estranged from her dad for years. In the book Finding Freedom, it was revealed that Prince Harry’s wife tried to reach out to her dad several times, but Thomas wasn’t receptive.
But in Thomas’s version of events, Markle froze her out since she and Prince Harry started dating.
Thomas didn’t also attend the couple’s wedding after he suffered a heart attack.
However, he also staged paparazzi photos for Mail on Sunday just days before the nuptials.
