Taylor Swift is known to give special clues in her songs. Many of her numbers are autobiographical, and the same is applicable even for her releases in 2020. Speculations are rife that a certain track in Evermore could be linked to his former boyfriend, Jake Gyllenhaal.
Evermore, her second surprise studio album of the year was dropped on Dec. 11, 2020. She tweeted that she was uncertain about what would be her next project. She also mentioned that she was clueless about many things these days. Evermore was dropped just two days before her 31st birthday.
She wrote to her followers that she wanted to give them a surprise in the week of her birthday. The songstress praised her fans for being so supportive and caring on her birthdays. So, she wanted to give them something in return.
The songstress launched the first surprise album of 2020 in July 2020 called Folklore. However, she did something unusual for her. She wrote a companion album soon after.
A couple of months ago, she opened up to her fans by mentioning that she has started re-recording her initial five studio albums. As such, no one thought in their wildest dreams that she was also working on a new album side by side. This was until she shared the news of Evermore.
It also means that Taylor Swift not only re-recorded some of her old songs but also worked on Evermore at the same time. There would be certain days when she would not only be re-recording an old song but also work on a new song on Evermore. She revealed this interesting tidbit to Apple Music, Zane Lowe.
Swifts’ last song on Evermore is called Happiness. She completed the track only a week before the release of her studio album, according to Showbiz Cheat Sheet. This is a song where Swift hums about learning how to bid adieu to a relationship. Several people detected links between the book title The Great Gatsby and the song.
It is interesting to note that Swift had explained all the stories she sang in Evermore were mainly fictional. However, Happiness has a similarity with her album Red, which was dropped in 2012.
She had once explained that it is about the different ways in which one has bid adieu to a relationship, particularly when the person is just 22-year-old.
Meanwhile, in his podcast, Ron Sheffield mentioned that Happiness is a song about the songstress’s 21st birthday and realizing that the guy is not going to show. Incidentally, the “he” at that time was none other than Jake Gyllenhaal. However, Taylor Swift has not confirmed that the song is about her ex.
