Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex could possibly be feeling the pressure on their marriage because of the latter’s increased royal duties.
While speaking with New Idea, royal commentator Phil Dampier said that Sophie has been making more public appearances since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Megxit.
Sophie is also turning into one of Queen Elizabeth’s strongest allies just like Kate Middleton, Camilla Parker Bowles, and their respective husbands.
But with her added workload comes possible problems at home because Dampier is convinced that Prince Edward and Sophie are unable to spend as much time with each other as they used to.
The royal commentator also said that Prince Edward seems to be standing in the background while Sophie finds herself in the limelight.
Dampier said that it’s evident that Prince Edward doesn’t mind having to take care of their kids when Sophie is away.
The dad of two doesn’t also mind having to watch Sophie flourish in her role as a royal while he stands on the sidelines.
After all, he knows that Sophie has an appeal and he married a strong woman.
Dampier said that Sophie and Prince Edward may not have prepared for their increased workload. But they’ve been stepping up to the plate.
The queen doesn’t have a lot of people she can rely on now that she’s 94.
Prince Charles and Camilla are already in their 70s, Princess Anne is also in her 70s, and Prince Andrew took a step back from his duties last year.
Prince Harry and Markle already quit The Firm so the only people that the queen can tap are the Cambridges and the Wessexes.
Meanwhile, the royal commentator also thinks that it’s only a matter of time before Prince Edward and Sophie’s eldest daughter, Lady Louise perform her royal duties.
Lady Louise is already 17 years old, and her younger brother, James Viscount Severn is 13 years old.
Last week, the Wessex family made their public appearance when they went to church on Christmas Day. However, they weren’t joined by the other members of the royal family.
According to Express, the Wessex family went to church at the Kings Lynn, and they were photographed while in their private car.
The family of four wore their winter coats and protective masks for their outing.
The queen and Prince Philip, on the other hand, didn’t hear mass at a church due to the coronavirus pandemic.
They celebrated Christmas quietly at Windsor Castle.
