The Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue with their legal battle with The Mail UK despite the periodical issuing an apology to Prince Harry last Saturday through a personal letter sent to the Duke and online.
Prince Harry has no plans to pull out his lawsuit against the publication, which was lodged in the High Court last November.
In shocking claims made by The Mail last October, they falsely alleged that Prince Harry has turned his back on the Royal Marines and has completely failed to keep in contact with the organization.
According to the reports, Prince Harry did not take lightly the claims made by The Mail and had no choice but to put a hand down on the slander that was being thrown his way as well as towards his wife, Meghan Markle.
On Sunday, The Mail published online their apology, writing, "An article on Oct 25, 2020, reported that Prince Harry had been accused by a top general of turning his back on the Royal Marines since withdrawing from his military roles in March. We understand that Harry has been in contact in a private capacity with individuals in the military, including in the Royal Marines, to offer informal support. We apologize to Prince Harry and have donated to the Invictus Games Foundation.”
It is understood that the apology does not equal the end of the case. Prince Harry, allegedly, stands firm in suing the newspaper.
This lawsuit is one of the many lawsuits filed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Currently, Meghan Markle is also in a complex legal battle with The Mail regarding the publication of private letters sent out by the 39-year-old Duchess to her father, Thomas Markle.
Meghan has a long way to go in winning her case against The Mail and has also requested that the court date be moved later in 2021.
Harry is also suing other big tabloid papers; this includes The Sun and The Daily Mirror for apparently phone hacking and illegally intercepting his voice mails. The claims made by the Duke stems after many messages from his close family were deleted from his private phone over the years.
Furthermore, the Prince alleges that this is how the tabloids leak stories on their publications. Prince Harry’s dislike for the media stems from the death of his mother, Princess Diana.
Recently, the Duke and Duchess won their case against paparazzi company The Splash after distributing illegal aerial photos of Archie Harrison online.
