Park Seo Joon was the accidental victim of jokes and memes after Parasite picked up four historic wins at the 2020 Oscar Awards. Fans decided to have some fun with the actor, who did a cameo alongside his buddy Choi Woo Shik for the Bong Joon Ho movie.
Parasite made history at the 92nd Academy Awards for bagging Best Original Screenplay, Best Foreign Film, Best Director and Best Picture, the first time for a Korean film to achieve such an honor.
It can be recalled that Park Seo Joon made a brief appearance in Parasite as Ki Woo's (Choi Woo Shik) friend who gave him the tutoring gig with the wealthy Park family before he went abroad to study.
After the awards ceremony, Park Seo Joon shared a video reaction to Parasite's win as he shouted, "Wow... wow... that's crazy," while he watched the entire cast accept the award for Best Picture, All Kpop reported.
Park Seo Joon is known to be close to Choi Woo Shik in real life as part of the Wooga Squad group of friends, along Park Hyung Sik, BTS' V and Peak Boy.
Park Hyung Sik, who is currently serving in the military, also shared that he too was impressed by Choi Woo Shik's victory for the movie. "I'm sincerely proud," he shared.
However, fans took the opportunity to joke around with Park Seo Joon about his reaction by calling him out on his decision to leave for abroad to study. Some fans said that the actor might have regretted leaving Choi Woo Shik with the job after the latter's character stole his girlfriend and proceeded to con the wealthy family into accepting his sister, mother and father into their household.
Even as netizens joked with Park Seo Joon, who is known for his great sense of humor, the nation celebrated the South Korean film's quadruple victory at the prestigious Oscar Awards.
Leading the charge of the congratulatory message was President Moon Jae In, Soompi reported.
Using the official BTS account, V also took the time to congratulate the entire Parasite team for making history at the 92nd Academy Awards. He also did not waste the opportunity to tease his hyung, Choi Woo Shik and said that he saw his friend tearing up while on stage.
Celebrities like EXO's Suho, Eric Nam, Honey Lee, Han Sun Hwa, Jeon Somi, Kim Sae Ron, Hollywood star Sandra Oh, Kevin Woo, Girls Generation Sooyoung, and Tiffany, MAMAMOO's Solar, DinDin, lee Hi, Gyo Kyung Pyo, Girls Day Minah, VIXX's Ravi, Jung Ryeo Won, Lee Sung Gyun, DAY6's Jae, and Lee Dong Hwi also celebrated the victory through their social media accounts.
