Katy Perry recalled the time when she wasn't popular, and Zooey Deschanel was already an established name in the industry. Yes, the 36-year-old singer and songwriter revealed how she took the benefit of looking similar to Deschanel at that time.
Perry disclosed that she used to pretend to be the Gone Mental With Lior actress to get in the clubs. The singer opened up during a Live Instagram Chat on Dec. 21 with the 40-year-old actress and shed light on entering Los Angeles' nightclubs and misrepresenting the actress.
The video chat took place after the singer's latest music video was dropped, Not the End of the World. The video features Deschanel, in which she gets kidnapped by the Perry fans by mistake, thinking that she is the pop star.
The fans couldn't stop to notice the moment and took social media to share their excitement about the moment created by these two stars. It’s been a while that fans have noted the similarities between the stars looks-wise, while it is hilarious that Deschanel and Perry addressed the reference in the music video.
During the conversation with the actress, Perry confirmed that several times she took advantage of being her lookalike in real life before she was famous. She said 18 years ago she moved to Los Angeles and she was "nobody" while she noted how huge Deschanel was at that time.
In fact, Perry said that it seemed to her that the actress is running the whole world. Moreover, people used to walk up to her and compliment her for looking like Deschanel. Perry further told the actress that she has something to confess.
When she first arrived in the city, the pop star said all she wanted to do is enter a nightclub. Although she admitted having no clout or money at that time and she used to pose like the actress for getting into the nightclubs. Deschanel also revealed her side of the story and said that she knew about it already because people told her that they saw her at certain places where she has never been.
"People were like 'I saw you!' But I'm such a goody-two-shoes, and people kept going like, 'I saw you out! I made eye contact with you!'. Then everybody kept telling me about you, 'This girl Katy, she looks just like you,' and I'm like, 'Who is this Katy?'" she added.
However, Deschanel said that she was relieved to meet Perry in person as she looked pretty. The conversation went on for over 53 minutes, and the music video marked Perry's first project following her baby's arrival.
