Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, Sarah Cooper, and Sarah Silverman supported the fundraiser and other comedians to ensure that the voter registration is improved and helps in the Georgia runoff elections.
The Comedy Resistance, a civic engagement organization that hosted the Riffing For The Georgia Runoffs event, benefitted the voter registration process and GOTV work. The former representative Katie Hill and Andrew Yang performed their comedic bit, including Dulcé Sloan, Apple's Siri, and Amazon's Alexa.
The performers discussed the virtues of phone-banking and voting at a mall in Georgia. Richard Barney, Blaire Erskine, Fortune Feimster, Trae Crowder, and Ilhan Omar also featured if Orlando Leyba emceed.
Hill and Yang began the event with their sketch performance in which they asked Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa political questions. The 45-year-old entrepreneur interrogated Amazon's virtual assistant AI technology about the ballot dates of the Georgia runoff, including the healthcare.
Silverman cracked a joke on Jews as she recalled her previous performance in Hawaii. The 50-year-old stand-up comedian said she visited a hotel, where the pool's instructions were clear about having diarrhea.
She noted that the instructions read that visitors who had diarrhea in the last two weeks are not supposed to enter the pool. Silverman noted that this is just a roundabout way of asking Jew people to stay away from the pool.
However, she immediately said that if someone is staying in Georgia, then they should go out and vote. On the other hand, Galifianakis recalled the 2016 presidential election to kick off his set. The 51-year-old actor said that four years ago, he informed his wife about moving.
He joked about moving to the Trump Tower for four years and said that it had been a good run so far. He addressed people staying in Trump Tower as really nice people before he showcased a music video. It was Spotlight on Christmas song by Rufus Wainwright that juxtaposed pictures of the Trump family alongside pictures of people enjoying the festive season amid the ongoing pandemic.
Galifianakis played an air guitar and danced around during the music video. The event highlighted that the Georgia runoff elections for local, state, and federal will be held on Jan. 5 while the early voting has been started from Dec. 14 onwards. This election will decide that the United States Senate will be controlled by Democrats or Republicans.
