Prince Charles recently commented about the COVID-19 vaccine in the United Kingdom.
According to Express, members of the royal family are expected to stay mum about the vaccine because it is a controversial topic.
However, Prince Charles made a shocking comment about it during his trip to the Gloucestershire vaccination center this week.
He said that he thinks he is way down the list to receive the vaccine and he will also wait in line.
“I think I'll have to wait for the AstraZeneca one before it gets to my turn. I'm somewhere down the list,” he said.
According to New Idea, Prince Charles’ comments came just days after it was confirmed that Queen Elizabeth will also receive the vaccine within the next few weeks.
However, the queen isn’t expected to talk about the vaccine until after the fact.
Prince Philip is also expected to get the vaccine because he and the queen belong to the high-risk group that could get contracted by the virus.
According to Daily Mail, the queen isn’t expecting to receive any special treatment with regards to the vaccine and she will wait in line just like everyone else.
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said that medical decisions are personal so they won’t be commenting on the matter.
Meanwhile, Prince Charles and Camilla visited the Gloucestershire Vaccination Center at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital this week.
While there, the royal couple unveiled a plaque to mark their trip.
According to Sky News, the Gloucestershire trust already gave the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to more than 1,300 of its staff.
Those with underlying medical conditions and those from BAME communities were prioritized.
Following the visit, a senior infection control nurse, Coral Boston, revealed that Prince Charles talked about the disproportionate numbers of BAME people that COVID-19 affected.
The heir to the throne also acknowledged how important it is for people of color to receive the vaccine.
Professor Steve Hams, the chief nurse at the hospital, thanked Prince Charles and Camilla for visiting and said that it was a great boost for the staff.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall’s trip to Gloucestershire is their first official outing outside the palaces following the coronavirus lockdown.
In March, Prince Charles revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to isolate himself away from his wife.
But less than 14 days, Prince Charles managed to bounce back and fulfill his royal duties at the comfort of his home at the Clarence House.
