Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced last month that they will be stepping down from being senior royals. The couple then revealed that they will be living part-time in the UK and the US.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their firstborn Archie are currently living on a private mansion on Vancouver Island, Canada. They are expected to return to Britain next month to attend one final event before they step down as senior royals for good.
A new report claims that Queen Elizabeth will take this opportunity to savor the moment with baby Archie as she will not be seeing him as often as she would like. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to settle in Canada, which is why the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey that they will be attending on March 9 is particularly significant to the Royal Family.
Although Baby Archie may not be joining his parents at the service, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to bring him for the trip. The family-of-tree is also expected to stay at their Windsor home, Frogmore Cottage as the Buckingham Palace previously said in a statement that it will “remain their UK family home.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to raise Archie in North America means that Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the Royal Family members will not have regular contact with him. That being said, Her Majesty may use Archie’s quick trip to the UK to spend time and bond with her grandson.
Parenting expert Martina Mercer said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not confirmed how often they will return to Britain in the future. However, she noted that there’s still a possibility that Archie will form a close bond with the royal family.
The parenting expert then gave an example that there are a lot of Hollywood babies that were hidden from the limelight by their popular parents. But she pointed out that this wouldn’t necessarily mean that Archie will not be interested in his Royal side.
“Many stars have successfully hidden their children from the media spotlight only to find that the same children wish to enter into the showbiz industry as they turn into adults,” she said. "Harry and Meghan may find this is the case for Archie and the royal family. If Archie views life as a royal as better than the life he grows up with, he may set out to embrace his heritage when he comes of age.”
