Blake Shelton opened up about the engagement with Gwen Stefani. The 44-year-old musician appeared on Bobby Bones Show and said that he wasn't confident about the timing to propose to Stefani. However, the singer confirmed that he always wanted certain people to be present when he proposed.
The 51-year-old star shares three children with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, named Apollo, Zuma, and Kingston. Shelton disclosed that nothing was more important to him than the location to propose the mother of three.
"The only thing I had planned was that I knew I wanted to do it in Oklahoma while all her kids were there [as well as our siblings]. We have a group that we get together on [most holidays] with those two parts of our extended family, and it's been like that for years," he explained.
The singer said that he wanted to involve everyone in the special moment and didn't wanted to keep anything private from the children. In an interview with ET, the singer said that he always keeps Stefani's children involved at every step and ensured that they equally experience the excitement.
The singer revealed that he lost the ring before proposing to Stefani, but thankfully, the proposal went well. The God Gave Me You star explained that he had a compartment on his truck's door in which he kept the ring for almost a week.
The country singer further explained that the ring often used to fall out of the compartment. In fact, he thought that if the ring someday drops out of his trunk, then someone might win a jackpot. Shelton said that he always kept the ring in his truck as he wasn't sure when he might get that perfect moment to propose to her, yet, he was more concerned about losing the ring before the proposal.
On the other hand, Stefani appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show and shared her story of the proposal. She said it was obvious that Shelton did a great job in hiding the ring.
She explained that she tried her best to stay out of Oklahoma, where Shelton wanted to propose because of the ongoing pandemic. The singer said that she was concerned about gathering with her family, including Shelton's extended family. Stefani recalled that everyone went to see the under-constructed house that the couple is building for their future.
