The Kardashian-Jenner clan is no stranger to coming under fire from their social media followers for a wide range of reasons, including showing off their lavish lifestyle. Khloe Kardashian recently faced strong criticism for promoting steeply-priced jeans.
The E! reality TV star took to her Twitter and Instagram accounts to announce that Good American will be offering a gift for 4 days only. As part of the offer, customers could get their hands on their favorite denim for just $99, without realizing that it would spark such backlash.
Khloe, who owns the Good American clothing line, showed off her derriere in one of the customer-favorite jeans in the photo she posted to her social media accounts on Sunday, Dec. 13. Khloe made sure her followers saw how great her jeans would make them look, but some of her followers aren't happy about the price tag they carry.
In the photo, she paired the Good American Jeans with a teddy jacket. The photo garnered over 690,000 likes and more than 3,000 comments. While a considerable number of her followers posted a series of fire emojis in the comments section, some fans found it ironic, considering the political climate in the United States.
Some of her social media followers called out the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star for promoting her expensive jeans, while others directly admitted that they couldn't afford them. Some netizens ridiculed her for stating that the jeans cost $99 only, with one user writing, "Only $99 lmao," TV Shows Ace reported.
The aforesaid comment had 363 like at the time of writing. Some netizens reacted to Khloe's post by sharing crying and laughing emojis. One of her Instagram followers said they'd fancy shopping at Ross for $9.99 jeans, while another user pointed out that she thinks it is a great deal because $99 is pocket change to her.
Pointing out the country's current economic situation, one user said Khloe is clueless about how low wages are and how many hours people have to work to earn $99. Another user pointed out that Good American isn't even a high demand or popular clothing brand yet, advising the socialite to relax with that price.
The Twitterverse erupted with comments about how Khloe doesn't realize that $99 is actually a lot for most people in the wake of the global pandemic, which caused many people to lose their jobs and shut down their businesses. One Twitterati advised her to reduce her jeans' price to $60, noting that they did not even receive a stimulus check.
