It seems like 2020 is not a good year for host Ellen DeGeneres.
It's only May, but the host-comedienne just keeps being the subject of headlines regarding some mistreatment of people. Just Jared reports that the latest attack on Ellen comes from her former bodyguard, who says that the host's attitude was cold and even demeaning. This quite in contrast to that of Ellen's wife, Portia De Rossi. The former bodyguard's name was Tom Majercak, who was guarded the couple six years ago, during the Oscars.
Majercak was interviewed for 'Fox News' and he had quite a lot to say about DeGeneres. He says that unlike Ellen, Portia was actually very pleasant. But the host meanwhile did not even say hello to him and appeared very cold during the whole time they were together. He says that he has guarded a lot of celebrities over the years in his line of work and they were all very nice. Ellen seems to be the exception and he is just baffled that she can seem very positive on TV but very cold in person.
This is not the first time that someone has commented on the host's less than friendly attitude toward other people. The Daily Mail reports that earlier this year, YouTube influencer NikkieTutorials, or Nikkie de Jager in real life, exposed her less than pleasant experience while guesting for 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'. While she did not expect VIP treatment, she was surprised that the host did not even take time to welcome her and say hello to her. Instead, she had to face an angry intern who she said seemed overworked. She claims that she expected a Disney show but instead had a Teletubbies after dark.
Aside from people criticizing the host herself, the show seems to be encountering problems as well. Recently, crew members of the 'Ellen' show voiced their dissatisfaction with regard to poor communication between the crew and the producers.
The shooting for the show needed to be put on hold due to the pandemic and the crew were not given clear instructions on how they will be paid and the like. The crew, which is around 30 people, is also angry about the fact that the host hired another company for the new format of the show.
Instead of shooting inside the studio with an audience, DeGeneres now shoots inside her home with a crew of about four people, none of whom are from her old 'Ellen' show crew.
