Johnny Depp has, reportedly, filed an appeal in the United Kingdom to try and overturn the High Court’s wife-beater ruling weeks ago.
According to Deadline, Depp will continue to try and squash the allegations made by his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
The Aquaman star accused Depp of physically, emotionally, and verbally abusing her.
Depp then filed a case against The Sun and its editor, Dan Wootton for calling him a wife-beater in their articles.
However, High Court Judge Andrew Nicol said that the publication’s use of the term wife-beater to describe Depp was substantially true.
Following his ruling, Depp was forced to quit his role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
The actor also released a statement saying that he will appeal his case in the United Kingdom. And the judge’s decision will not change his desire to tell the truth.
Meanwhile, Depp is also gearing to face Heard in court after he filed a defamation case against his ex-wife.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the process will likely be even more intrusive. And Depp could lose even more money along the way.
The publication also said that the odds that Depp could win against Heard is much lower than his case against The Sun because the burden of proof will be in his hands.
Depp has, reportedly, been requested to turn over all his communications with his former partners, including Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightley, and Marion Cotillard.
Robert Kaplan, who stepped down from Heard’s team in June, said that it’s hard to imagine why Depp would pursue his lawsuit against his ex-wife even after every attack on the actress’s credibility was dismissed by the UK High Court.
Depp and Heard filed for divorce in 2016. Earlier this year, the exes made headlines after videos of Depp assaulting Heard were leaked online.
At one point, online recordings of Heard admitted to physically abusing her ex-husband were also leaked.
During July’s hearing, Depp’s former personal assistant, Stephen Deuters claimed that Heard was the one that subjected his former boss to years of domestic abuse.
Deuters claimed to have seen Heard abusing the actor on several occasions.
Depp and his team also accused the actress of defecating on their hotel bed during their marriage.
However, Judge Nicol said that this couldn’t be farther from the truth. After all, Heard also slept on the same bed while Depp was not in the hotel so she wouldn’t have defecated on her own bed.
