Avril told CNN in her recent interview that she has been totally awestruck watching everybody come together and raise the ante. She noted that frontline workers including doctors, nurses, those working in hospitals, essential workers, mail delivery, and even the grocery store workers are people who are currently holding the world together.
Keeping in line with that, the globally popular Canadian-French singer decided to re-record her single entitled "Warrior" from her Head Above Water album, which was released back in 2018. She slightly overhauled the lyrics to represent the ongoing health crisis.
Avril wasn't initially sure how she could show her gratitude and appreciation, she noted, adding that those working in the front line are the true heroes at the moment, and they are the true warriors. She also pointed out that everyone is in this together and will need to stand united even though we are apart. "Together we can beat this," the Under My Skin singer said.
While singing the re-adjusted song, Avril said she was thinking about those working in the hospital, and picturing them putting their lives in jeopardy to save lives of other people, realizing how intense this whole thing is. She said her heart is with them and wants to say a huge thank you to the frontline workers.
All earnings from the song and the music video which was made available to the public on Thursday will be donated to Project HOPE, which supports health care workers across the globe. The 35-year-old singer wrote the song when she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease but has now confirmed that she is finally recovering.
After a few years of heavy medication, Avril says she's feeling better. She noted that every year she's getting stronger and stronger. In her attempt to keep on top of her health, the singer said she realized it all comes down to just eating well, sleeping well, and maintaining a good balance, healthy lifestyle.
There are days, Avril said everyone needs to lead a healthier lifestyle. Talking about her recently canceled European tour, Lavigne said it is imperative to do whatever you can to restrict the spread of coronavirus. Much to the delight and relief of her fans who are disappointed about the European tour, Avril said she has already rescheduled it for 2021.
If people avoid going out and do their part, the virus is less likely to spread and it will end soon, which will allow everyone to get back to their normal lives, Avril said. "This is just a thing we have to go through right now," she said, noting that it will soon be behind us, which is one of the lyrics she included in the revised version of "We Are Warriors."
