George Clooney has been making headlines for many reasons, including his love for his wife and cutting his hair with a machine, which is not available in the market anymore. However, the 59-year-old actor opened up about the upcoming Netflix's film, The Midnight Sky.
The movie is a sci-fi genre, which also had a seven-year-old, Caoilinn Springall. The actor reflected on shooting with Springall in an absolute cold climate. The actor recalled how they used to speak very little, but they could convey their emotions to one another.
This project is special for the actor as he didn't only star in the movie but also produced and directed. Clooney said that this is one of the most demanding and challenging films in his entire professional life. The actor revealed that the little kid had seen only one movie of him, Fantastic Mr. Fox, before she met him for the first time.
The actor jokingly admitted that the animated comedy was the only movie of his, which Springall was allowed to watch. During the interview, Clooney spoke about shooting in the coldest place on the planet while Springall introduced herself.
Clooney begins to explain that the movie is made in two different zones. One is in space, and another one in the glacier. Clooney said that the first filming they did was in Iceland, where they were at the weather's mercy.
Clooney revealed that they were provided by the whistles that they can blow when they got away from one another as white dust storms would appear anytime. The actor recalled the incident when he lost Springall's hand and can't see her or hear her voice.
However, Springall used to have big goggles because of which she was able to see, but his eyelashes used to get freeze. The actor further said that they used to walk towards an ice cave, which might look like a filming set, but it was real.
The little one also shared her experience and said that it felt weird to her initially. She recalled how they used to dig with a shovel and then soon started to use hands for digging. Springall revealed that Clooney used to dig the hole and then used to ask her to sit in the hole for the scene.
"We knew we were going to Iceland in October, so it gets light around 11 a.m., and it’s dark by 3 p.m," the actor noted. He explained to shoot as an actor and direct the movie at the same time. They really needed to be prepared.
