Leslie Marshall in her new op-ed on Fox News said she believed Biden, explaining why he may be innocent. Before joining Fox News Channel as a contributor in 2009, Marshall was voted as one of The Magazine's most influential women in 2012, and Washington Times identified her as one of the hottest voices in politics.
Before she gets to the reasons for believing Biden may be innocent, Leslie notes that people are likely to assume that because she is a Democrat she would not believe any woman accusing a Democratic political figure, adding that is not the case. Leslie wrote, she believed a few accusations that were made against former Minnesota Democratic Senator Al Franken, as well as former Democratic President Bill Clinton.
Moreover, she says a lot of people would call her a hypocrite because she chose to believe then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh's accuser Christine Blasey Ford. After all, she was accusing someone who was on the verge of becoming a conservative Supreme Court Justice. Denying these accusations, Leslie points out that she did not believe the other Kavanaugh accusers.
In her op-ed, Leslie wrote that she is a woman, a feminist and the mother of a pre-teen girl. The former talk show host says that she knows that there's a difference between rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment, adding that she has been the victim of all three.
Like the former Vice President, Leslie believes that when a woman makes an accusation of misconduct against anyone, people usually tend to believe her, but then it is important to investigate and go through a cross-checking process to figure out whether or not the claims are true.
OurResilience.org suggests while most of the claims are true, about 2 to 8 percents are not. On Friday, Biden said the truth matters, and Leslie also believes that. Aside from her opinion, Leslie pointed out a few other things that explain why Biden may not be blameworthy.
President Trump, who has a list of accusations against himself brought in some of the accusers of former President Clinton in 2016 to a debate when he was running against Hillary Clinton, the wife of the former president. It is no secret that Trump's supporters would be happy to have this claim by Reade because it would serve as a distraction during the imminent presidential campaign.
But Trump hasn't cashed in on it. He urged Biden to answer this claim, and Biden did so on national television. It is worth noting here that Trump didn't attack Biden like he did Hillary with her husband’s claims. When Blasey Ford made accusations against Brett Kavanaugh, Trump mocked poked fun at her publicly. Moreover, Leslie attributes the entire media's decision to remain mum about this to Tara Reade not been a credible witness.
