Prince George has been struck by the death of his family’s 9-year-old dog, Lupo.
Last week, Prince William and Kate Middleton shared the devastating news via their Instagram account.
The couple shared a photo of their adorable mutt, who has been with Prince William and Middleton since Christmas 2011.
Days later, National Enquirer claimed that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were devastated following Lupo's death. After all, the dog has been their best friend.
But among the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children, Prince George is allegedly the one who’s most affected by the dog’s death.
In the tabloid's December 14 issue, a source claimed that Prince George has been crying nonstop since Lupo died. And he was also asking Prince William and Middleton where the dog is.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have allegedly been doing their best to comfort Prince George and their two other kids, but it seems nothing works.
According to the source, it’s going to take some time for the Cambridge household to adjust to the fact that Lupo is no longer with them.
While it is true that losing a dog is devastating, it is unclear how Prince George really feels about the death of Lupo.
After all, Prince William and Middleton never revealed how their kids reacted to their dog’s death.
Meanwhile, Lupo has been a fixture in the Middleton household throughout the past nine years. He was a gift from Middleton’s parents on Christmas Day.
The cocker spaniel has also appeared in a slew of photos together with Prince William and Middleton.
In one of their snaps, the royal couple is walking on the beach, and Lupo is sniffing the sand in front of them.
Another photo shows Prince William carrying Lupo in his arms while hanging out with Middleton and Prince George.
A third photo shows Middleton strolling with Lupo, Zara Tindall, and one of the latter’s daughters.
In related news, Globe claimed that Prince William and Middleton trust Lupo so much that they gave him the opportunity to pick Prince George’s name.
Lupo allegedly picked out a paper scrap with George written on it. And the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took this as the dog’s way of choosing their eldest son’s name.
However, there is no truth to the tabloid’s claims. Lupo wasn’t the one that picked Prince George’s name. Rather, Prince William and Middleton chose the name as a tribute to the Duke of Cambridge’s great-grandfather.
