Viewers have loved Nicole Kidman’s HBO series The Undoing, but the same cannot be said about professional critics. They came up with mixed reactions.
The mystery psychological thriller, which includes Kidman and Hugh Grant in the lead roles, has allured the masses, as well as, several Hollywood A-listers. It has six episodes in total, and the final episode was aired on Nov. 29, 2020. The plot follows the lives of an affluent couple played by Kidman and Grant, whose life transforms after a killing takes place in the city.
Fans were ecstatic on social media after seeing the final episode, and many requested the makers to come back with a second season. Grant plays the character of a pediatric oncologist called Jonathan Fraser.
His wife’s character is portrayed by Kidman, who is trying her best to save her husband after becoming a prime suspect in the murder of a woman.
Meanwhile, Christopher Stevens from Daily Mail gave a big thumb up to the show and liked that all the characters were made to look like suspects in the show. However, many critics disagreed with his point of view.
For instance, the Independent’s Eamon de Paor felt that the show was an ‘absurd game of cat and mouse” and gave it only two out of five stars.
Guardian’s Lucy Mangan felt that although the series had a wonderful cast, the show has been disappointing, to say the least. She felt that while the series looked slick in the beginning, it ended up being silly.
On the other hand, viewers could not wait to watch who the murderer was. The sixth and final episode eventually revealed the identity of Elena’s murderer, according to Daily Mail.
Nicole Kidman made sure to respond to the appreciation showered on her TV show by several fans, including A-listers such as Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Hailey Bieber. Incidentally, the series has the same team that made the popular drama titled Big Little Lies.
Both Kim and her half-sister Kendall Jenner took to their Instagram pages to admit how obsessed they were with Kidman’s drama series. On the other hand, Hailey showed her love for The Undoing on Instagram and expressed that she was afraid of coming across its spoilers.
The supermodel mentioned in the Stories section of Instagram that if anyone comes up with the spoilers for the show’s final episode, she will cry. The Eyes Wide Shut actress responded to her by promising no spoilers, according to Elle.
Nicole Kidman took to her Instagram page and expressed her gratitude towards all the show's cast and crew members. She acknowledged that everyone had given their best throughout the season.
