Mandy Moore has been on a roller-coaster ride since she announced her pregnancy. The 36-year-old singer revealed a couple of weeks back that she is pregnant with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith. However, there is something that shattered her heart during pregnancy.
Yes, it's her 12-year-old dog, Joni, who passed away. The singer and actress took social media to share a slideshow on Dec. 1 that featured her late doggy. She revealed that her dog was named Joni after Joni Mitchell. Moore wrote a lengthy post on Instagram sharing her sadness with her fans and followers.
The A Walk to Remember star began to explain that last night something unexpected happened that lost her Joni. She revealed that Joni was about to turn 13-year-old soon, and she had gone through a major surgery last week. Moore said that the surgery was done to remove the mass from her liver.
Despite the surgery, Joni was recovering quickly but last night seemed to be heavy on her dog. The singer noted that something was wrong as her dog is obsessed with food, but this time she didn't complete her dinner, neither could she have a peaceful sleep.
Though she was kept on pain medication still, Moore's intuition told her to get Joni inside her house. The singer further said that she is glad to make that decision. Moore recalled the moment when she saw a puppy mug featuring Joni back in 2008 and drove to San Diego to meet the puppy.
Moore tagged the dog rescue's Instagram handle and said that she was "instantly smitten." She further recalled how she had a conversation with Joni while driving back home and telling her that she and her dog would be together even if the world turns against them.
The singer said that Joni felt like a human than a dog to her. Moore said that she was such a foodie that she would eat anything around her, including something gross. She addressed Joni as a vacuum that took everything inside her.
"She loved to give very stinky kisses. And I have no doubt she knew what an absolutely indispensable part of our lives and cherished soul she was right until the end," she added. The singer said that her heart had been shattered as she was not only a best friend but also her first love.
