Prince William is pushing for the BBC to investigate Princess Diana’s controversial interview for Panorama in 1995.
According to WHO, Prince William is supporting the inquest on the interview that’s being led by his uncle, Charles, Earl Spencer.
Reports revealed that Princess Diana was tricked into giving an interview to Martin Bashir. After all, the journalist told him that her staff and protection officers were spying on her.
Bashir also reportedly showed Princess Diana fake bank statements and claimed that people were being paid to talk on her behalf.
The Princess of Wales, who was reportedly very naïve that time, decided to come clean with her struggles. She didn’t want other people telling her story so she told Bashir that Prince Charles was having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
Princess Diana also admitted that she was suffering from bulimia during the interview.
While speaking with Vanity Fair, Princess Diana’s friend Simone Simmons revealed that the late royal and Prince William got into a huge fight following the interview.
Prince William was still in school, and he was reportedly teased by his friends who also watched Princess Diana’s interview. According to Simmons, the dad of three was absolutely livid.
The weekend after the interview, Princess Diana and Prince William saw each other and they reportedly got into a big row. Prince William was reportedly furious at his mom, while Princess Diana was left feeling distraught.
Simmons, who was present while Princess Diana and Prince William were fighting said that this was the angriest she’s ever seen the second in line to the throne.
Meanwhile, Princess Diana’s brother has also been very vocal about his fury over the Panorama interview.
He said on ITV’s Lorraine that he would feel semi-vindicated if the BBC would apologize to him and the royal family.
Charles, Earl Spencer also slammed Bashir and accused of him of telling at least 32 lies.
Princess Diana met Bashir after they were introduced to each other by Charles, Earl Spencer.
During the 1995 interview, Bashir also asked Princess Diana if she thinks Prince Charles would ever become king.
Princess Diana said she doesn’t know the answer to the question. But when Bashir asked if the Princess of Wales thinks Prince Charles wants to be king, she said that there’s always a conflict on that subject every time they would talk about it.
The late royal said that she thinks Prince Charles would feel suffocated as king.
