Taylor Swift has recently released her latest album ‘Folklore,’ which has topped the album charts and trended around the globe.
Her fans have praised her album for being one of her ‘bravest’ work yet. Apparently, ‘Folklore’ is Swift's love ode to her longtime boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn.
On a Disnye+ Special ‘Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions’, the singer confirmed that one of the co-writer of two songs from her album was indeed her boyfriend.
In the album, Swift gave credit to an unknown songwriter called William Bowery. There were speculations from her fans that Bowery was Joe, but the ‘You Belong With Me’ singer has never confirmed it until now.
“There’s been a lot of discussion about William Bowery and his identity, because … it’s not a real person, so, William Bowery is Joe … as we know,” she told Jack Antonoff and The National’s Aaron Dessner in the film.
Back in July, rumors began to sprout after Taylor Swift thanked her ‘musical heroes’ in an Instagram post, including Antonoff, Dessner, Bowery, and singer Bon Iver. She tagged all of these so-called ‘musical heroes’ with the exception of Bowery.
Fans were quick to note that the surname resonated with the hotel where Swift and Joe Alwyn were first seen together, The Bowery Hotel.
Joe Alwyn’s grandfather, William Alwyn, was also a famed composer. Fans put two and two together, and since then, they have been begging for Swift to reveal the truth.
She further shared on the Disney+ Special about Alwyn helping her create two songs in the album. Apparently, Alwyn wrote the entire piano part of ‘Exile.’ Swift also praised her boyfriend’s skills on the piano, saying that he played it beautifully and would just play random notes all the time.
She then approached Joe to help her finish the song ‘Betty’ after hearing him sing the song's entire chorus.
Taylor Swift is notoriously private with her relationships; they have also become the inspiration behind her biggest hits. Swift had a whirlwind romance with ‘Thor’ actor Tom Hiddleston before meeting Alwyn in 2016.
The couple has been together ever since and has shown very little to the public about their relationships. Both Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift have made it a point to not walk the red carpet together.
Joe Alwyn has also been very expressive about his support towards Swift’s career and is often seen joining her on her concert tours.
