Princess Diana’s younger brother, Charles, Earl Spencer continues to talk about the controversial Panorama interview and The Crown.
During her interview with ITV’s Lorraine from his home, Charles confirmed that there is already an ongoing investigation regarding Princess Diana’s controversial 1995 interview.
Charles said that he’s shaken up by claims over how Martin Bashir scored an interview with his late sister.
There were claims that Bashir showed Princess Diana fake receipts and said that someone from the palace is being paid to give information about her and Prince Charles.
As such, a naïve Princess Diana decided to give an interview herself so that the media won’t twist her words.
Charles also said that the BBC has very serious questions to answer because it’s unclear how they allowed the interview to take place when it’s not done with the best intentions.
Princess Diana’s brother also said that he knows a thing or two about Bashir and what he’s done. Unfortunately, Bashir won’t be asked to answer questions after he recently tested positive for COVID-19 and underwent a heart procedure.
Meanwhile, Charles also talked about the new season of The Crown and said that he’s appalled by the depictions of Princess Diana and their grandmother in the series.
He said that their late grandmother isn’t a mean person, but this is how the creators of The Crown depicted her.
Charles also said that Netflix should’ve made it clear in all their episodes that The Crown is fictional, but it’s also loosely based on certain facts.
This way, viewers wouldn’t think that what they’re watching is the gospel.
Charles added that he’s worried that Americans would think that what’s featured in The Crown is what really happened in real life when this isn’t the case.
In related news, Charles also said that he feels incredibly sad over the news that Meghan Markle suffered a miscarriage months ago.
Princess Diana’s brother also said that he cannot imagine the agony for any couple who lost their child this way. Charles added that his thoughts are with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Charles is the only relative of Prince Harry who publicly addressed Markle’s miscarriage.
According to the Daily Beast, the royal family is not staying silent on the tragic loss because they’re snubbing the Sussexes. Rather, Prince Harry asked them to not comment on the personal issue before Markle’s op-ed piece for the New York Times was released.
