The Crown’s latest season has everyone shaken after it reveals the British royal family's dark and cold side. Netflix has gathered many criticisms from a barrage of royal supporters, claiming that they are pitting their viewers against the Monarchy.
It has been reported in the past week that the Royal Family is ‘not happy’ with Netflix’s portrayal of them in ‘The Crown,’ citing that the scenes are not correct depictions of their personal lives.
Now, there are allegations that creator Peter Morgan is planning to extend the season of The Crown from the original six seasons to more than that.
Royal author Omid Scobie discussed this probability with Express UK. According to the ‘Finding Freedom’ authors, there have been talks that ‘The Crown’ will cover the stories of the modern royals, including Prince William’s feud with Prince Harry.
"There is already a lot of talk about Season 5 and Season 6, which have been confirmed. Despite reports it would stop before William and Harry become adults, I have heard rumblings that there is even talk inside Netflix about the possibility of whether the show could be extended,” Scobie said.
Scobie also mentions that the Royal Family might be kicking themselves after denying to help producers of the show reach out to them to fact check the events to be portrayed on the show.
ABC foreign correspondent Maggie Rulli also revealed that she agrees with Scobie’s views and is excited about ‘The Crown’ moving the narrative into the royals' modern era.
Creator of the show Peter Morgan already revealed in a past interview that he does not plan to take on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s narrative as he believes the story of the two is not finished yet.
The royal pair has signed with Netflix a few months ago and has been incessantly criticized by royal fans to collaborate with the company, which exploited the royal family’s image.
Harry and Meghan have been urged by Britons to ‘abandon’ their deal with the streaming giant. Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William, is also reportedly angry about the portrayal of their parent’s marriage.
It is very unlikely for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to back out on their deal with Netflix after the massive paycheck they were given. But what’s more unlikely is the rumors of ‘The Crown’ taking on the narrative of the modern royals.
