Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to lend their UK residence, the Frogmore Cottage, to the royal couple and family Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank was an unprecedented move by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Apparently, reports have surfaced the senior royal members were ‘blind-sided’ by this decision and was not briefed by the sudden change of tenants of the cottage.
The Queen reportedly was not pleased by the actions made by her great-grandson and his wife, also noting that Princess Eugenie and her husband did not ask her permission as well.
Frogmore Cottage was a wedding gift from the Queen to Prince Harry and Meghan before they sealed their love in a marriage contract.
The Queen was hoping that the two will raise their own royal bundle in Frogmore located in Windsor Park. This house is also closely located to the Royal Lodge, where Prince Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson live, as well as Windsor Castle.
Buckingham Palace’s past statement reveals that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are the sole proprietors of Frogmore Cottage, and being said so, what business they do with it is their decision.
Princess Eugenie’s pregnancy claims to be the driving factor for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision. Before the royal couple left the UK and the royal firm, they refurbished the Cottage kitted to their months old baby Archie Harrison.
Refurbishing Frogmore Cottage became a big controversy with the British Citizen after costs were revealed to be over $3 million.
Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were forced to pay the costs despite stepping away from their royal duties and denouncing their ‘HRH’ titles.
Furthermore, the Sussex’s allegedly had moving vans come in the middle of the night as to not raise any suspicions from other royal members.
There are rumors circulating that a majority of the couple’s belongings have already been shipped to their home in Los Angeles.
This decision also draws attention from royal commentators as they point out that this could signal that the couple is ‘tying up loose ends’ from their royal exit.
“Emptying their home and handing over the keys is a pretty strong sign, Harry and Meghan have no plans to return. It appears they are tying up loose ends,” A source told The Sun.
Frogmore Cottage remains Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s official residence in the United Kingdom. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are only renting the home from the couple.
