Prince William and Kate Middleton are senior members of the Royal Family in Britain. Certain travel rules shall be waived off when he becomes the King. However, his wife may still have to follow those rules.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been traveling extensively over the years. They represent the British Royal Family while visiting foreign countries and also take their kids along on certain occasions. However, one aspect of travel will change for the Duke of Cambridge after he becomes the King.
At present, when this royal couple travels overseas, they have to show their passports for checking and follow the immigration procedure similar to any other person in the United Kingdom. However, that will not be the case after the Duke starts heading the Royal Family.
The rule, which is applicable to Queen Elizabeth at present, will also apply to William when he becomes the monarch. He will not require a passport for traveling after becoming King. The Duchess of Cambridge, though, will still have to carry her passport along.
The reason for this is that any passport in Britain is issued in the monarch’s name, which means that the Queen issues them currently. It is for this reason that Queen Elizabeth is the only person in the United Kingdom who does not require a passport while traveling.
It also means that once Prince Charles becomes the monarch, even he does not have to carry his passport to travel. The only difference for Charles and William would be the wordings in all British passports will change to His Majesty, Daily Express reports.
However, the monarch has to still undergo some checks while traveling. For instance, Her Majesty has to respond to a few queries related to her identity. These questions can be related to her address and age for security reasons.
Kate Middleton has to adhere to a key travel rule, which is not applicable to her husband Prince William. For instance, female royals should maintain their chin level to the steps while leaving the plane. They are, however, allowed to have a grip onto the rail for keeping themselves steady. On the other hand, male royals have been often seen to move ahead of their better halves. William frequently does so while leaving the aircraft.
Meanwhile, according to another report by Daily Express, the Duke of Cambridge shared his views on how he sees the future of travel once the coronavirus pandemic ends and travel restrictions are removed. Prince William shared that he thinks that businesses may rethink about how to hold their meetings. He feels many entrepreneurs would realize that conducting a meeting via a video conference can be as effective to manage a business.
