Prince Harry has been accused of failing to stand by Prince William in the ongoing probe of BBC’s 1995 Panorama interview with their mother, the late Princess Diana.
The Duke of Sussex, who is now based in California, has yet to issue a statement regarding the highly publicized investigation.
This has led to royal experts commenting on how Prince Harry seemingly does not care about the issue. The Panorama interview, which saw Diana airing out all the dirty secrets of her royal life and marriage to Prince Charles, led to one of the biggest fallouts in royal history.
Royal author and expert Ingrid Seward shares her two cents with The Sun UK. “He is normally so keen on letting his opinions be known — why hasn’t he done so in this case and stood by his brother to share the responsibility. Oddly, he hasn’t spoken out about the BBC and Bashir case,” Seward explained.
Prince Harry has been very vocal and supportive of his wife’s court case with the Associated Press Inc. in the past year. Unfortunately, the Duke has not expressed any support towards the probe or to his brother.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made their bitter relationship with the British media as one reason why they have decided to exit the royal firm.
They also cited that the family did nothing to support them, and now, Prince Harry is taking revenge by not associate himself with the BBC controversy and his brother.
His older brother, Prince William, has already issued a statement regarding the issue and is rumored to have been in private meetings with BBC bosses in the past two weeks.
Prince William also urged BBC to open an investigation, which the TV corporation has recently. The statement issued by the Prince cites the probe as ‘a step in the right direction’.
Allegations made by Princess Diana’s younger brother, Charles Spencer, drove the BBC to look at the production of the interview and the host, Martin Bashir.
Charles Spencer believes that Bashir presented fake bank statements to him and his sister in a bid to win their trust and allow him to have an exclusive sit down with the Princess of Wales.
The aftermath of the interview was one of the biggest scandals in royal history. Insiders have revealed that Diana regrets interviewing, realizing it damaged her relationship with his sons.
