President-elect Joe Biden gave Nancy Pelosi good wishes on being nominated to serve as House speaker for another term. On Wednesday, U.S. Democratic lawmakers chose House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to spearhead the party into the incoming Biden administration and take charge of their narrow House majority as Congress' most influential person.
Biden's transition team acknowledged that Biden and Pelosi spoke soon after House Democrats chose her to serve as House speaker for another term. The incoming president told Pelosi that he is looking forward to with her and Democratic leadership in the House on a collective agenda to get the still raging coronavirus pandemic under control and build the American economy back better.
According to ABC News, Pelosi will be Biden's most powerful associate in Capitol Hill for the next couple of years. In other words, outgoing President Donald Trump's biggest nemesis will be the highest-ranking woman in U.S. congressional history, after running unchallenged for the top job.
Pelosi was nominated during a first of its kind virtual leadership election as the deadly pathogen continues to tighten its grip over people across the United States. Noting that she was very honored to accept the nomination for speaker, Pelosi vowed to take action to help "crush" the unprecedented crisis facing the nation, NDTV reported.
She went on to say that Congress should now address justice in America's justice system and justice in the nation's economy, environment, and health care. A formal House floor vote for the speakership will be held next year in January, once the new congressional session kicks off, and shortly after, Biden takes office as the nation's 46th president.
There are no prizes for guessing that Pelosi is widely expected to win. Pelosi, who has been leading her caucus for 17 years, agreed to serve as House speaker through 2022, at most two years ago. This move may have paved the way for her easy re-nomination this week.
Taking to Twitter, The House Democratic caucus lauded their "fearless leader." On Nov. 18, Pelosi urged her social media followers to tune into the House Democrats' recently elected leadership team to discuss how the Caucus will continue working for the people in the 117th Congress.

Biden said he is hopeful that Republicans in Congress will willingly send money to state and local governments once Trump leaves office, assuring that such funding will be a priority when he takes office in Jan. He said once Trump is gone, Democrats will hopefully be more willing to do what they know should be done to protect communities they live in.
