Hasan Minhaj secured his place on The Morning Show on Apple following the cancellation of the Patriot Act on Netflix. While the 35-year-old comedian seemed to have taken a step back, fans considered this news as blessings in disguise.
The former talk show host will be seen in season two of The Morning Show with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. The second installment of the show is currently in the production process in which Minhaj will portray Eric's character.
The character will have a rising star and charismatic traits that will join the Morning Show team. Minhaj's previous show was on Netflix for two years, and it completed 39 successful episodes that gathered numerous amount of views and appreciation.
However, it was canceled by Netflix last summer. The upcoming season seems to be special and highly anticipated for a couple of reasons. Besides Minhaj, Kerry Ehrin's directed show will witness news faces such as Ruairi O’Connor and Greta Lee.
Moreover, Steve Carell will also return in the second installment while the production has been resumed since Oct. 19. The Spanish Princess fame, O'Connor, will portray Ty Fitzgerald, who is a savvy and charismatic YouTuber.
On the other hand, in Russian Doll's fame, Lee will portray Stella Bak, an ambitious and young leader of a digital media firm that works for Gen Z and millennial audiences. However, Witherspoon and Aniston will continue to portray anchors on the show, Bradley Jackson and Alex Levy, respectively.
Other cast members include Desean Terry, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Nestor Carbonell, Mark Duplass, and Billy Crudup. Although fans are highly anticipating Carell's return on the show as he had signed a one-year contract with the studio, he confirmed coming back on the show to portray Mitch Kessler.
Carell's character was one of the most interesting characters on the show as he gets fired following #MeToo movement allegations. While the show focuses on the cutthroat competition in the morning shows, it also reflects on Americans and how they start their day. The second season will also reflect more on the ongoing pandemic scenario, while the first one was focused on the #MeToo movement.
The filming of the series had already started, but due to the lockdown amid the coronavirus outbreak in March, the shooting was halted. The Morning Show's first season ended with a cliffhanger that exposed the fictional network's toxic culture and risked Witherspoon and Aniston's careers.
