As the global coronavirus pandemic continues to rage all over the world, more and more celebrities are coming out to share stories of their own positive diagnosis. The latest one to do so is actor Hugh Grant, who says he and his wife probably contracted the disease earlier this year.
Deadline reports that the 60-year-old actor made the revelation on an episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. According to Grant, he and his wife Anna Eberstein likely contracted the virus back in February.
Grant says that the first symptoms he began to feel were profuse sweating, describing it as a “poncho of sweat.” He also described feeling like his eyeballs had grown three sizes bigger as well as having difficulty breathing.
Today also reports that aside from sweating and exhaustion, Grant also confessed to not being able to smell anything. The actor says that he had tried smelling everything from flowers, garbage cans, and his wife’s perfume to no avail.
As pointed out by the media outlet, all the symptoms Grant described have all been discovered by health professionals as indicative of coronavirus infection. Eye doctors back in March had cautioned that pink eye was a possible indicator of COVID-19, while the loss of the sense of smell and taste was something that was discovered early on in the pandemic.
Grant is just the latest celebrity to reveal that they have grappled with the coronavirus. Just a couple of weeks ago, reality star Khloe Kardashian also revealed that she had tested positive for COVID-19.
Kardashian revealed her condition in a teaser for a Keeping Up with the Kardashians episode. In it, the 36-year-old said her body temperature had been fluctuating and that she had also been experiencing headaches and vomiting. It was also difficult for her to cough as she could feel her chest burning up.
A few weeks before Kardashian, Strictly Come Dancing contestant HRVY also revealed that he had tested positive for the coronavirus. The YouTuber and singer, whose real name is Harvey Cantwell, had to quarantine himself for a week as dictated by the show’s health and safety protocols.
A crew member on the Strictly Come Dancing set had also tested positive before Cantwell, requiring the cleansing of the set with electrostatic sprayers.
Other celebrities that have tested positive and recovered from the coronavirus include Antonio Banderas, Anna Camp, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Bryan Cranston, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jim Parsons, and the Bachchan acting family in India.
