Kate Middleton and Prince William have demonstrated that they are a modern royal couple in various ways. The royal couple has been using the lockdown period to do something, which is typically frowned upon by the British royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have used the ongoing lockdown period to keep themselves engaged in social media, something, which is not quite a common practice in the royal family.
The royal couple has been using social media platforms like Instagram in a manner, which they perhaps would not have done before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time, the Duke of Cambridge and his wife have not been “inhibited” from using their social media accounts.
According to Leslie Carroll, a royal expert, the young couple has used this opportunity of using their accounts to share news and information, which are passionate about. Carroll divulged: “Historically, the royals have been constricted from expressing themselves personally on social media.”
The expert added that even Meghan Markle was allegedly asked to stop using her own accounts when she started dating Prince Harry. Also, the royal family is known to typically use their official account names on social media platforms.
She also mentioned that there is a possibility that the communication professionals of the royal family members write on their behalf on these platforms. Carroll further opines that although the monarchy is over a millennial old, they have to “adapt to the times we live in now.”
The lockdown in the United Kingdom came into effect about six weeks ago. Prince William and Kate Middleton have been frequently posting on Instagram since the time they are living in isolation at Anmer Hall, Norfolk.
The couple has posted some cute pictures of their three kids. It is interesting to note that these pictures were clicked through their iPhones rather than being snapped by professionals, Daily Express reports.
For instance, the Duke of Cambridge and his wife posted an adorable clip of their three kids clapping in support of the NHS. The video revealed valuable insight into the daily routine of the family.
In another post, the couple had a video call with the staff and students of Casterton Primary Academy. They are seen chatting in a humorous and genuine tone, which was quite different from the way royals are known to speak.
The Duke revealed that he would be savoring sweet treats during the Easter period. William had mentioned that there will be chocolates in abundance to be eaten. His wife joked: “You keep eating it.”
According to another report by Daily Express, Kate Middleton is a hands-on mother and keeps her three little kids engaged at home even during the ongoing lockdown. The Duchess confessed that she is maintaining a strict schedule for them and did not even let the little ones know that the Easter holidays had started.
