unique Camilla Parker Bowles recently made headlines after she stepped out in public wearing an all-black ensemble.
Eagle-eyed royal fans couldn’t help but notice how Camilla’s fashion and style evolved. And according to royal commentator Phil Dampier, it’s evident that the Duchess of Cornwall is taking inspiration from Princess Diana.
While speaking with New Idea, Dampier said that Camilla dresses a lot better these days. And it’s hard not to notice how her clothes are looking more and more similar to the pieces that the Princess of Wales wore when she was still alive.
But despite Camilla’s fashion evolution, Dampier still said that the Duchess of Cornwall will never be as beautiful and as glamorous as Princess Diana.
However, there is no denying the fact that she’s better suited to support Prince Charles because of their similarities. Dampier said that Prince Charles and Camilla think similarly, and they also have the same sense of humor.
But the same cannot be said about Prince Charles and Princess Diana, who didn’t have any similarity at all other than their love for their sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
Following their wedding in 1981, Prince Charles and Princess Diana decided to go their separate ways in 1992. One of the reasons for their separation was Prince Charles and Camilla’s affair.
Dampier said that Camilla was never jealous of the late royal. In fact, she thought that she could control Princess Diana. However, this obviously didn’t happen because Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom exposed her husband’s affair during an interview.
The royal commentator said that Prince Charles just couldn’t understand why Princess Diana was shocked that he was having an affair. After all, the majority of the Princes of Wales in history also have mistresses.
For instance, King Edward VII, who is the second longest-serving Prince of Wales, had several mistresses throughout his life. His wife, Princess Alexandra, also knew about his affairs.
Years later, King Edward VIII also made headlines after he had an affair with Wallis Simpson. But the couple’s relationship was controversial because Simpson was an American divorcee.
And in order for King Edward VIII to be with Simpson for good, he decided to abdicate from the throne. His decision resulted in his younger brother, King George VI becoming the new king, his eldest daughter, Queen Elizabeth, becoming his heir.
Following his abdication, the queen’s uncle was demoted to the Duke of Windsor. And he and Simpson relocated to France.
