After a decade of being married and having three children together, reality star Kristin Cavallari and football quarterback Jay Cutler are divorcing.
Page Six reports that the couple announced their mutual decision to get a divorce on their Instagram accounts over the weekend.
The joint statement said that the decision to divorce was a “loving” one and that the couple has nothing but love and respect for one another. The statement said that they just grew apart.
While the statement insists that the decision to divorce was an amicable one, The Cut points out that that on “Very Cavalleri,” the reality show in which the couple star, Cavallari had a falling out with her best friend Kelly Henderson because of suspicions that Cutler was having an affair with her. Cavallari said she did not believe the rumors.
With this divorce announcement, Cavallari and Cutler become the first celebrity couple to divorce during a coronavirus-induced lockdown.
Cavallari and Cutler are also the latest celebrity couple to end up in the news during the coronavirus pandemic. Bruce Willis and Demi Moore recently became the subject of a number of articles because the pair were isolating together, despite being divorced and Willis having a new wife.
In the United Kingdom, the pregnancy of Rupert Grint’s partner Georgia Groome was confirmed after the pair were spotted shopping for supplies as London was placed under lockdown due to the coronavirus.
In Malibu, Chris Martin and Dakota Johson were spotted in a rare display of public affection as they walked arm-in-arm in their neighborhood along with Johnson’s dog. The pair have been together since 2017 but are rarely seen being affectionate in public.
Another celebrity couple that got attention was Florence Pugh and Zach Braff, only the attention was negative. Pugh posted an image of Braff napping on her Instagram since the pair were in quarantine together. The image ended up getting a lot of comments from users commenting on the age gap between the two. Pugh is 24-years old while Braff is 45-years old. Pugh had to post a video on her Instagram to defend Braff and insist that she is old enough to make her own romantic decisions.
Celebrity couples will probably be spending longer periods in lockdown together as the pandemic continues to rage around the world. According to the World Health Organization situation report for Apr. 26, 2,804,797 people around the world are confirmed to have COVID-19. COVID-19 deaths are now at 193,710 people.
