The 56-year-old American singer-songwriter made her unexpected TV comeback after five long years.
Tracy Chapman on the Late Night show
On Nov. 2 (Monday), Chapman unexpectedly appears on national television again as she sings a revolutionary song titled Talkin’ Bout A Revolution. She sang the song on the Nov. 2 episode of the Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she urged his fellow American citizens to exercise their sole right to vote.
As per Hollywood Life, Talkin’ Bout A Revolution is a song from her landmark self-titled album in 1988. “It’s finally the tables are starting to turn / Talkin’ bout a revolution / It’s finally the tables are starting to turn / Talkin’ bout a revolution, oh no,” Chapman sings.
Her enticing performance took place on the eve of the 2020 Presidential Elections, opening all the American people's eye whether to re-elect Donald Trump or hail Joe Biden as the new president.
What makes Chapman’s performance more epic is that on its end part, she changed the lyrics, singing: “It’s finally the tables are starting to turn /Talkin’ bout a revolution / Go Vote.”
Shortly after officially ending her performance, she stepped away from the microphone then revealed a sign with the word “vote” written on it. She added that the ongoing presidential election is the most important election of America’s history, so it needs everyone’s cooperation to restore the people’s democracy.
The epic performance of Chapman led the host, Seth Meyers, to share his insights. Meyers blurted out to Harper’s Bazaar that he always sees Chapman’s music pieces that skip the listeners’ ears as it goes straight to the heart. He then added that he felt “honored and excited” to pave a segment for her, as she is living proof of being an artist while speaking on what she believes.
Chapman also showed her advocacy in 2004 in the Vote For Change tour by MoveOn.org, aiming to encourage people to register and vote, according to CNN.
