The life of Prince Charles has been one that is constantly followed by the public. As the heir apparent to the British throne, the Duke of Cornwall’s every move is always under scrutiny.
With the Queen monarch’s age reaching 95 next year, the dialogue of his crowning has been opened up.
Experts believe that there will be no problems regarding the crowning of Prince Charles, but there is one major hiccup they do see in his future reign.
A majority of Britons still blame Camilla Parker-Bowles for the death of Princess Diana. Prince Charles's second wife Camilla, is heavily unpopular amongst the British population.
Royal expert and biographer Robert Lacey tackles this topic in his newest book, ‘Battle of Brothers’. According to Lacey, a major reason for the unhappiness of the Britons with the royal family in the ’80s and ’90s was due to Camilla’s constant presence in the life of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.
“Brits, we’re not very enthusiastic about King Charles III or Camilla. Camilla is a woman who is at the root of all that unhappiness at the ’80s and ’90s,” Lacey told SheKnows exclusively.
He further shared that the palace had to hire a PR expert after the death of Princess Diana for the purpose of selling Charles’ eventual marriage to Camilla Parker-Bowles.
Furthermore, Lacey explains that the dislike of the British Citizens towards Camilla was not due to her marital affair with Prince Charles but due to Prince William and Prince Harry’s mental health after their mother passed away.
Princess Diana’s death was unexpected. After a year of battling a bitter divorce with Prince Charles, the Princess died of a freak accident.
A majority of the Britons blame Camilla’s presence in the life of the heir apparent that drove his marriage with Princess Diana to deteriorate, which then cause her death.
Up until now, the government and the Palace are at odds as to what Camilla’s titles will be when Prince Charles takes over the monarchy.
It was revealed that instead of being called Queen Consort, which is what is traditionally the title for the wives of the Kings, Camilla would have to settle for Princess Consort instead.
The trajectory of how welcoming the British and Commonwealth will be to Prince Charles's reign is still murky. Experts believe that the Prince will fill very big shoes, added to the fact that he and Camilla are a very unpopular royal couple.
It has been rumored that Prince Charles will take over the throne next year.
